Poles angry about religious gay photos

Photographer Yves De Brabander and artist DAve SChweitzer have made a commotion in Krakow, Poland, with the exhibition of their joint project “Ecce Homo”, during the Festival Culture for Tolerance. Christian saints and ancient Greek characters shown in a contemporary setting. Especially De Brabander’s and SChweitzer’s autoportraits, respectively as Lucifer and the Virgin Mary holding a dead Christ, caused problems, as they were referred to as blasfemous, perhaps due to the homoerotic nature of the photographs. Some religious groups have spread posters around the city “to stop the gay barbarians”, an want to sue the organisation of the festival.
